First Oliver marriage in Oxfordshire
In 1676 in the village of Long Compton Warwickshire, Josiah/Joseph Oliver, the fifth child of Edward and Elizabeth was born. In 1697, at the village church in Glympton, Josiah married Mariah Hunslowe/Hounslow from Stonesfield, the daughter of Edward and Mary.
The images below are of the original Glympton parish register and shows the entry that was made on the 22nd October reading 'Joseph Oliver of Long Compton & Mariah Hunslowe of Stonesfield were married in the parish church of Glympton'.
At present, I believe this to be first Oliver marriage to take place in Oxfordshire and therein it is the point where the long Oliver family history in Oxfordshire all started.
